COMMENTS

On August, 10 1920 Toldrà met Maria Sobrepera in Castelló d'Empuries. That year he will write one of his most personal, intimate, romantic, lyrical songs of his entire catalog: "Cançó d'un bell amor". The work was dedicated to his love. One year later, he will write this sardana with the motto: "to her". Toldrà would still dedicate another sardana to Maria, Empuries for orchestra. Besides this three pieces dedicated to Maria Sobrepera one could say, without a shadow of a doubt, that Toldrà found an inmense inspiration in the love and devotion for his "later-to-be" wife and partner for life in many other pieces of his catalogue. Every time it appears a musical reference to "love", "tenderness", "caring", "admiration", "respect", "devotion"… he has her in his mind and soul.
