L'hort
Poem by: Joan Maragall
sereu, roses, marcides i esfullades.
no heu pas de témer el nostre;
ella a mon rostre arrima
la seva cara que és germana vostra;
I en ses galtes llavors acolorades
enceses reixireu i més badades.

The garden
(English translation)
Between my garden and yours,
there is only a fence of rosebush filled with roses.
Of what will you hinder me,
custodians, so frail as you are beautiful?
My beloved is coming at a gentle pace
carried forward by her yearning for love;
promptly, under the weight of our embraces,
roses, you will become withered and without petals.
Yet, daughters of Love that all enlivens,
you must not fear ours;
she brings close to mine
her face which is as if it were your sister;
when she tells me that she loves me,
a downpour of kisses falls on her face.
And on her cheeks, then blushed,
flared, you will thrive and blossom.

llevada por sus ansias amorosas;
no temáis pues el nuestro;
ella a mi rostro arrima
su cara que es hermana vuestra;

Compare the piano development and the ending with the refrain of the Catalan folksong "L'àngel i els pastors".
