The civil war of 1936-39 interrupted editing tasks and withdraws the future songs, though they had already published three volumes of luxurious materials (1926-29). The work of the work could not be continued and is beyond the reach of researchers. Ramon Menendez Pidal and his collaborators uses one of the traditional materials in the Ballads.

The agenda of the memorable meeting of the Epiphany exposed clearly the objectives of the Work of the People Cançoner of Catalonia, which since then were put into practice without hesitation ∙ up with a remarkable record. The initial work plan was to inventory all the songs released. In addition, the proposed disclosure immediate Catalonia, through the press, everyone who could contribute to the work songs, asking: the contribution of the songs and popular music that had gathered, the call for tenders aimed at rewarding collections of unreleased songs or variants of known, and the formation of one or more missions designed to go to places where it reported the existence of a good subject cançonaire. He appointed an Advisory Board with members appointed by the following entities: Mountaineering Center of Catalonia, Catalan Studies Institute, Archive of Ethnography and Folklore, Catalan Choral Society and Foundation and Rabell Cibils with master Philip Pedrell of honorary president.

As of January 31, 1922 Cançoner's office distributed a thousand copies of cinccents "CircularsProclames" ∙ asking co-operation of individuals and entities for the collection of actual songs, chants and Cantarell in children; tune with children's games, dances, masquerades and dances, and played traditional calls, and all kinds of popular music. As early as 1922 came many documents, but the most important gift, driven from the Consultative Council, was the folk of the immense material Mariano Aguilo y Fuster, assigned by his son Angelo in April 1923.

As expected the initial plan, the same as 1922 was a competition in order to intensify includes materials for the Work of the People Cançoner Catalonia. The call was a success and in 1924 was made the second contest similar to the first, taking a similar response to the first call. Despite the satisfaction of the two contests, the Advisory Council did not convocarne others and was give the highest priority missions for the various land Catalan research and daily work of the office of the Work of the songs.

The field work done by so-called "missions" of the Work of the People Cançoner of Catalonia, was one of the priorities presented and adopted at the founding meeting of 6 January 1922. These "missions" carried out generally for two people for a long period, often in the summer, but at shorter times and at other times of the year, served admirably to gather around Catalonia and Balearic Islands, and to a lesser extent, Valencia, thousands of songs, long or short, children's games, dance, dance and other genres of popular culture. Before iniciarles the "missionaries" signed an "Order of Mission," which was then stored in the archive of the Work of Cançoner and that marked the tone of the obligations contracted towards the institution. It promised, in this way to collect "the musical tune", "font", "add the folk of each case" (as the co ∙ readers, limited to names and personal characteristics of the singers, or increased with notes of various kinds), and in certain cases, "the impression recording of the song", which have preserved a number of samples in the archive of the Catalan Choral Society and the Library of Catalonia " singers of the photography. " It recommended the "missionaries" who made a kind of disease where recreation with all their personal impressions or simply emotional during the mission, that is, a memory, written on the fly and a great interest for understanding the vicissitudes of each issue, often of great historical and ethnographic interest. The "missionaries" were given an amount for travel expenses and subsistence allowances and some work, including, if necessary, pay compensation to some singers. At most after six months after completing the work, the "missionaries" were lliurarne material to clean the work, which was thereafter ∙ intellectual property rights. Doubts concerning the technique were to be settled by the Advisory Council of Welfare, but when necessary expense is entirely the responsibility of Rafael and Patxot Jubert, or the person representing them. In total were conducted between 1922 and 1936 a total of 65 research missions.

Until the time came to undertake the publication of "Songs Catalan folk" (a time when, unfortunately, not ever) the Advisory Council of Welfare was thought, with good reason, for the convenience of a regularly published series to give faith and life of the institution to gather different kinds of studies about the song and his Catalan ∙ readers. Thus came the three magnificent volumes of materials from the Work Cançoner People of Catalonia. Also put up the Dictionary of Dance, Joan Francesc Pujol and Amado. In 1927, Francis Hill, presented at the congress of history of music held in Vienna on a communication Chansonnier Populaire du L'Oeuvre de la Catalogne. Puntí priest and prepared a detailed ideas cançonístic Aguilo, which was part of volume IV Materials, interrupted by civil war, which finally appeared in a separate volume in 1993.

In 1936, while the Work of the songs was in a stage of boiled and fruitful achievements and ongoing projects, the upheaval caused by civil war, represented the collapse of the Work of the songs. His patron, Rafael Patxot, had to go into exile abroad. The archive of the Work of Cançoner remained quartered, some was hidden in a safe place in Switzerland and elsewhere remained in the hands of Patxot in Barcelona.

However, the family Patxot was well aware of the treasure that was guarded and precise instructions so that is time that seems appropriate, file the Work of the songs reunifiqués Catalonia and could again be consulted by scholars without any problems. Therefore, from 1986 he contacted the Monastery of Montserrat and offered the funds at that time was divided between Switzerland and Barcelona. After due negotiations, the month April 1991 and in 1994 came to Montserrat and the material between 1991 and 1992 was classified and was meticulously prepared an inventory that allows a detailed knowledge of enormous wealth it contains. While in 1993 it signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, which allowed the microfilming of all material and placing the microfilm at the Centre for the Promotion of Popular Culture and Traditional Catalan and the Library of Catalonia, with facilities where they can be studied by specialists, and the resumption of the Work of the Materials Cançoner People of Catalonia.
